The State Library of Louisiana offers FREE online tutoring to
K - Grade 12 Louisiana residents, funded through a BroadbandUSA grant through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.
One-on-one help from a live, qualified tutor can be accessed from a Louisiana public library or from a home computer by going to www.homeworkla.org.
Tutors are available Sunday - Thursday 2 p.m. - 10 p.m.
Over 1,800 tutors (certified teachers, professors, graduate school students, university students, and professionals who are experts in their fields, all background checked through third-party security) offer academic help in math, science, social studies, and English.
The Online Classroom includes real-time chat, an interactive whiteboard, drag and drop math tools, commonly used equations, graphing paper and much more. The ProofPoint™ Real-Time Writing Center enables students to upload documents to receive a live review, edits, and writing strategy assistance.
Students who have used the free service report increased confidence, ability to complete homework assignments better, and improved grades.
In an effort to provide additional parental support, The Calcasieu Parish School Board (CPSB) is launching new online homework help through the district’s website
The homework help site consist of a collection of worksheets, problem sets, video lessons, test preps and practices, and learning guides categorized by grade and subject. As students progress through the school year, more support materials will be added in each section.
While the site features resources for grades K-12, users will notice a heavy concentration on Eureka Math support at the elementary and middle levels. In these areas, parents have the opportunity to download documents with explanations on how to solve problems and equations with the new methods introduced through Eureka Math.
High school students and parents have access to practice tests and prep resources for the ACT and End-of-Course assessments. Online study guides are also available for grades 9-12 in science, math, English language arts and social studies subjects.
